SVB Presents Its Greatest Achievements of 2025: A Year of Historic Advances for Veganism in Brazil

Compartilhe

The Brazilian Vegetarian Society (SVB) celebrates a cycle of achievements that consolidate its role as one of the leading organizations promoting plant-based eating in the world. In 2025, we expanded our institutional impact, strengthened public policies, trained thousands of professionals, and mobilized society around more sustainable food systems.

Check out the main milestones of 2025:

International Recognition and Institutional Strengthening

SVB was recognized by Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) as one of the most effective animal protection organizations in the world. The recognition highlighted our impact on public policies and the promotion of plant-based meals in Brazil, reinforcing SVB as a global reference in advocacy for sustainable food systems.

We also took a seat on the National Council for Food and Nutrition Security (CONSEA), expanding our institutional engagement and bringing the debate on sustainable food, public health, and evidence-based policies to the center of national decision-making.

Strategic Action in Health and Climate

We strengthened our presence in public health services by providing training, culinary workshops, and campaigns featuring 100% plant-based menus for hospitals and psychosocial care units. In total, more than 1,500 professionals were trained to implement healthier and more sustainable food practices within Brazil’s public health system (SUS).

SVB also actively participated in COP30, bringing the discussion on sustainable food systems to the climate agenda. We held a youth conference on public policies and food systems, launched the Public Policy Observatory, supported artivist interventions, and reinforced plant-based diets as a concrete solution for environmental mitigation.

National Mobilization and Political Advocacy

We took part in the 5th National Environmental Conference with the largest delegation of the event, advocating for the inclusion of animal rights and the transition to sustainable diets in Brazil’s environmental agenda.

In addition, we called on city council members across several cities to introduce bills creating the Municipal Sustainable Menu Program, requiring public institutions such as schools and hospitals to offer meals with fresh, regional foods and plant-based protein at least once per week.

Our network of more than 700 volunteers, active in over 50 cities, was also mobilized throughout the year with street actions, educational materials, and simultaneous interventions that reached thousands of people and brought veganism closer to the broader population.

High-Impact Campaigns

We held another edition of Abril Vegano (Vegan April), featuring a full month of in-person and online activities across the country, including gatherings, health initiatives, cultural events, and awareness campaigns.

On April Fools’ Day, we launched the campaign “Are Vegans Weak? Don’t Fall for That Lie!”, with advertisements in subway stations, airports, and gyms, showcasing high-performance vegan athletes and dismantling myths about strength and physical performance.

Strengthening the Sector and Food Education

We offered a free management course to strengthen vegan restaurants, providing training in essential business areas and intensifying support in communication and promotion for partner establishments.

We also launched an unprecedented guide for schools and parents of vegetarian children, featuring practical guidance, recipes, and nutritional information developed by specialists. The free material supports families, educators, and food service professionals in ensuring balanced and inclusive meals in the school environment.

Vegfest Brasil 2025: A Historic Edition

Vegfest Brasil 2025 celebrated another historic edition, held in partnership with CEAA. The festival brought together names such as Duda Salabert, Menkay, KL Jay, Paul Watson, and Dr. Michael Greger, reaffirming itself as the largest gathering of vegan culture, science, and activism in Latin America.

We Continue Planting Ideas and Harvesting Change

Each achievement of 2025 represents another step toward building a more ethical, healthy, and sustainable food system. Through technical expertise, political advocacy, and social mobilization, SVB continues to expand its impact — for the planet, for the animals, and for people.
